The Dutch ‘Keuzegids Universiteiten 2019’ has given our Bachelor Biology curriculum a Top rating. This means that this rating is prolonged from last year and that we are considered to be one of the best educational tracks in the country.
In our curriculum we create an informal atmosphere between students and lecturers. This also means that the program offers individual attention and a career-orientation track that meets the students’ needs. As our coordinator of the bachelor curriculum, Joris Koene, enthousiastically points out in response to the rating: “It is great to see that our Bachelor Biology keeps being appreciated so well by our students. This is clearly an achievement of the whole lecturer team that is involved in passionately teaching a challenging curriculum.”
The Bachelor Biology program aims to teach knowledge and insight into modern biology with a program that challenges students to put theory into practice, and to make cross-links among the different subdisciplines of biology. This includes all levels of biological processes, from the molecular and cellular, to ecosystem level dynamics. Our department focusses its teaching on topics such as evolution, ecology, (eco)physiology, and behaviour as well as placing these into their more applied contexts such as biodiversity, climate change, pollution, sustainability, and much more.
